Italian online luxury fashion retailer Yoox Net-A-Porter has turned 20.
The retail behemoth began its journey as two companies in June 2000 as the first online fashion destinations and paved the way for e-commerce. Net-a-Porter means Ready to Party while the name YOOX was derived from the Y and X chromosomes linked with the 00 of binary code.
In 2001 Net-A-Porter shipped its first international orders while YOOX entered the US in 2003 and Japan in 2004. In 2011, Net-A-Porter launched Mr. Porter it’s men’s website, while in 2019, it launched Net Sustain a platform that highlights brands and products that are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
In 2015 YOOX and Net-A-Porter joined forces in the most innovative merger in history, to become Yoox Net-A-Porter (including MR PORTER, THE OUTNET, and Online Flagship Stores Division), the world’s leading online luxury retailer. Today, Yoox Net-A-Porter serves more than 4.3 million customers in 180 countries, with over one billion visits to its sites each year. Net-A-Porter boasts over 800 fashion and 200 beauty brands across its platforms, available in 170 different countries, and offers 24/7 personal shopping services in 11 languages.

To mark its 20th anniversary, Yoox has teamed up with London-based luxury brand JW Anderson to create an exclusive capsule collection. Titled ‘JW Anderson x YOOX’ the collection goes beyond seasons, trends, and genders and for which founder and creative director Anderson looked back through the JW Anderson archives, drawing on familiar themes and codes.
